The message is in the bottle...

When I first began to develop ideas for a website, I had no idea which direction to take. I only knew it would have to include my passion for wine and my deep closeted desire to write again.

Many years ago, I majored in Journalism at Delta College, with the high hopes of one day working for a metropolitan newspaper and living an exciting life as a single city girl. Three children, three marriages, and almost 30 years later, my high and mighty aspirations have settled down considerably. And although I never finished college or formally worked for a newspaper, I have managed to raise three incredibly bright and talented children and welcome one perfect grandson into the world.

After two failed attempts at marriage and commitment, my third shot hit the proverbial bulls-eye, and since 1998, my happily-ever-after story has been writing itself, over and over.

I guess all along I’ve been writing stories in my head, savoring sentences, words, and ideas that would someday make sense on paper, yet never believing I would write again. Life kept getting in the way, and I had cautiously guarded my words, kept them close, and very afraid to let them go.

Thanks to a whim and a creative writing course I signed up for last year at Delta College and with the support of my instructor Paula Sheil, I started to feel the power and exhilaration of writing again. I received much encouragement from Paula and a classroom full of students half my age as I entered the annual Stockton Arts Commission's Writing Contest (2007), and won first place in the adult non-fiction category for my article "How to Go Wine Tasting." What a great launching pad!

Most importantly, I have my husband, Isaac beside me, who, more than anyone, has shown me how to jump off the cliff (so to speak!), fly, and live the good life.

And to everyone else, I raise a glass to you and the good life!

Additionally, I write for D'Vine Wine & Visitor's Guide, a fun and knowledgeable magazine to help guide you through the surrounding wine regions of Lodi, Livermore, Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, and Clarksburg appellations. Great maps, too!

My writing has been published by D'Vine Wine & Visitor's Guide, Downtown Lodi Business Partnership, Brookside Monthly, Stockton Arts Commission, ArtIFact (a Delta College publication), BayAreaCritic.com, and LocalWineEvents.com.
